I first thought that I would tackle this 230,000+ words online fic (fanfic more accurately, but I haven't watched the show) slowly over several days or weeks, but I was consumed by it for the last 2 days. It's a love story that spans almost a lifetime, though the actual story mostly takes place in their twenties. There are no miracles here for these two men living in the 19th century, no magic shortcuts or solutions to take away from the realism missing in many m/m historical or regency romances. Not to say that this means a looming tragedy, just sacrifices and love sorely tested, stretched to its uttermost limits, and ultimately strengthened.
Gosh, that's all I can say right now, I'll try to write a proper review later (which I will likely fail at). I'll just end rather abruptly by saying that these 230,000+ words tell one of the best love stories I've come across, certainly the best in the m/m historical/regency genre. In all honesty, this would be a 4.5 stars because there were some issues in pacing (this was a LONG story), but rounded up to 5 for my overall reading experience of it: which was amazing.
